About No Turn On Red

I believe that the underlying key in driving retail sales growth is stellar customer service and a great shopping experience. To deliver stellar customer service, a retailer needs to be proactive in engaging customers through every channel that is available to them. Deliver a great shopping experience by keeping your message consistent, online and off, and guiding your customer to the merchandise they want.

I have seen the retail industry from the perspective of an in-store supervisor and visual merchandiser. I have seen it from the perspective of a front end web developer in the e-commerce industry. Yet daily, I see the industry from the perspective of a customer. I’ve seen good things in my career and I’ve seen bad. I like to reflect on these moments, and what is going on around us, to come up with ways that the shopping experience can be improved across all channels.

No Turn On Red is a blog about the retail industry, e-commerce development, social media, and how to craft a better shopping experience for your customers, both in-store and online. Through this blog, I hope to share information, advice, and stories about how I think retailers can deliver a better shopping experience. Run by Tom Sullivan, this blog has been operational, with some intermittent breaks, since 2006.

Outside of the blog, I am a a front end web developer working on e-commerce implementations. I bought a house, with my wife, in Belford, NJ. I enjoy the beach, photography, and poker. I have found that New Jersey is a great place to enjoy all three activities.
